South Korea keeps insurance and service history against the chassis number. That is the main reason importing from there is more verifiable than from some other markets — but the records have limits too.

The insurance history
The report shows recorded damage, insurance events and changes of owner. From it you can see whether the car has been in an incident that went through an insurer.
A repair paid for in cash with no insurance claim does not appear in it. So the report is read alongside the photographs and the condition report, not instead of them.
Mileage, and how it is verified
Mileage is recorded at roadworthiness tests and at some service visits. A sequence of rising figures over the years is a good sign; a jump backwards is a reason to walk away from the car.
The condition report
Separately from the history, a condition report is ordered for the specific car — paint, panels, tyres, interior, defects. This is the document that describes the car as it is today.
Ask for detailed photographs of every defect in the report, not just the summary.
What the records do not show
No record guarantees future reliability. The history and the report reduce the risk, but the decision stays yours — and you should make it before any deposit is transferred.
